Chief Hardin began his career with the department in 2000. He promoted to Captain in 2007 where he served as a Company Officer until promoting to the rank of Battalion Chief in 2012. He served as the Shift Commander for A-Shift and was tasked with oversight of the department's Technical Rescue Team. In 2016, he moved into the position of the Fire Department’s Health and Safety Officer. On May 14,2018, Chief Hardin moved into the position of Assistant Chief over Support Services.

Chief Hardin has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Arkansas. He just completed his fourth year of the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy. He is a published author with his research focusing on how the fire service evaluates the services provided to their customers.
