Economic Development Services are managed by Devin Howland, Director of Economic Vitality for the City of Fayetteville. As the City's primary economic development arm, Economic Vitality serves as a liaison from the City to the contracted entities providing economic development services.
The Fayetteville First plan adopted by City Council in 2016 engaged more than 1,600 citizens and businesses to structure the City's economic future. Fayetteville First gives policy direction for the City to achieve its stated goals, along with an implementation plan as a roadmap. Establishing the economic delivery service model was identified as one of the first steps, and staff is following the adopted strategy of a three-pronged approach: 1) Contract Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategies, 2) Contract Business Recruitment, Retention and Expansion Services, and 3) Create an internal Economic Development program to provide a city contact and to lead efforts in coordinating all efforts related to recruiting, retaining and supporting business, industry and startup efforts in the City.
