The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will be improving the interchange at Interstate 49 and Wedington Drive. In order to make way for these improvements, the City of Fayetteville Utilities Department will need to relocate some existing water and sewer infrastructure. Some of the water and sewer lines will be upgraded when they are relocated outside of the future roadway areas.
Why is it important?
The water and sewer relocations must be done to facilitate the ARDOT widening project. The increased capacity of any lines upgraded during the relocation process will benefit the area in the future.
What is the current status?
Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. has been selected by a formal engineering selection committee to provide the engineering services associated with the water and sewer relocations. The engineering design is complete and the project is being reviewed by the state health department and ARDOT.
When is completion expected?
Following easement acquisition, the project will bid in late 2019. The project is estimated to be completed during 2020.
How was this project funded?
This project is funded from within Water/Sewer Relocations – Bond Projects, and will be partially reimbursable by ARDOT after completion.
