Allocation of $3 million of funds for downtown sidewalks, lighting, curb ramps, and other pedestrian improvements.
Why is It Important?
Citizen feedback during the Fayetteville Mobility Plan and the Parking Master Plan indicated a desire for better walkability in the downtown area, especially between the downtown square and the entertainment district. Poor lighting, narrow and obstructed sidewalks, lack of curb ramps, and need for additional crosswalks were all identified as areas of concern. This allocation of funds will allow for implementation of these types of improvements, on street corridors within the downtown area.
What is the Current Status?
Church Avenue, between Mountain Street and Spring Street, is under design by the City Engineering Division. Other street corridors to be included in the project are still to be determined.
When Will it be Completed?
To Be Determined.
How is it Funded?
Funding for the project comes from the Bond issue that voters approved in April 2019.
