City Seeks Public Input for Walker Park Splash Pad Location

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville invites citizens and other interested persons or groups to a public meeting regarding future improvements at Walker Park. The meeting will be held this Wednesday, May 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Fayetteville Public Library (401 W. Mountain Street).

Three conceptual plans have been created based on initial input from the community. The first phase of the plan implementation includes adding a splash pad to the park. Splash pads are non-slip aquatic play areas with misting and jetting water features, containing little or no standing water. The City is seeking public input for the splash pad location. Conceptual drawings of park amenities and aerial photos with splash pad locations are available for view on this webpage. Large-scale drawings will be on display at the meeting. The splash pad is expected to be open in summer 2018.

For those unable to attend the meeting, please submit comments by Wednesday, May 31 to the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department by telephone, email, or letter:
  • Telephone 479-444-3471
  • Email parks@fayetteville-ar.gov
  • Fayetteville Parks and Recreation, 113 W. Mountain Street, Fayetteville, AR 72701

Ethnic minorities, persons with special needs, elderly persons over 55, and special interest groups are encouraged to attend and participate.
